Dr Janet Hall

There’s good news and bad news in life: The good news is that there are not that many

dodgy people out there. The bad news is that they sure tend to get around a lot!

Do you ever wish you had a magic wand to deal with the difficult people in your life?

Have you been hurt, betrayed, or cheated by a really dodgy person?

Perhaps it’s a colleague, a business partner, a customer or your internet service provider?

Perhaps it was your boss or your spouse? This dodgy person is an energy vampire who feeds on your self-esteem, mental anguish,

unhappiness and bank balance.

They create dramas which suck the profits from your bottom line.

They waste your time and money and hold you back from the success you deserve!

We don’t want to be their victims! Dodgy people are lurking everywhere and the quicker

you can identify them, the quicker you can avoid their dodgy dealings or at least go into

rapid damage control.

Dr Janet Hall, Clinical Psychologist, calls upon decades of practice and observation to offer

proven strategies for avoiding toxic relationships. With straight-talking advice, real-life

anecdotes, and psychology that makes sense, Dr. Jan gives you the surefire tricks and

techniques you need to remember the lessons learned from the dodgy people of the past

and be more assertive and firm with possible dodgy people in the future.

Set in Arkansas in 1957,  the complexities of identity, yearnings for love and acceptance, and racial tension are all unmasked in the riveting literary drama, Melting the Blues, by debut author Tracy Chiles McGhee.

Augustus Lee Rivers, a farmer and bluesman, has two obsessions:  his relationship with the Duncan family and his desire to leave small town Chinaberry to become a musician in Chicago. When his plans are prevented by a devastating betrayal, Augustus is driven into the belly of the blues where he must reckon with his past if he is to move forward. This intriguing, multi-layered historical tale beckons readers down a red dirt country road to bear witness to an unforgettable time, place, and people.

A brave, musical story rich with Southern history.” Kirkus Reviews

Sasha Ariel Alston

Sasha Savvy Loves to Code is an early reader chapter book (ages 7-10). The main character, Sasha Savvy, is a super smart 10-year old African-American girl, who lives in Washington, DC. Sasha must choose which class to take for summer camp. Her mom discovers that the camp is offering a new class for girls on how to code. Sasha thinks this will be boring and doesn’t believe that she is good at computer stuff. Despite this, she decides to give it a chance and convinces her best friends Gabby Reyes and Ashley Webster, to attend the coding camp with her. Sasha’s mom, a Software Developer, gives her a unique formula to help her remember how to code but will it be enough to get her through a challenging first day of camp with bugs everywhere, computing errors, that is.

Sasha Ariel Alston, known as the STEM Queen, is the author of the children’s book Sasha Savvy Loves to Code. From Washington, D.C., Sasha is a college student majoring in Information Systems at Pace University, Lubin School of Business in New York. With eight successful internships at business and information technology enterprises such as Peter Marcus Group, Infor, Microsoft,  and Everfi, she is a sought-after speaker encouraging youth, especially girls of color, to pursue educational and career opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). She has appeared on Good Morning America, been featured in Huffington Post & Black Enterprise, and inspired girls to dream big in Disney, Google, Snapchat, and Yahoo initiatives.

“La Contrebasse.  La Grand-mère.  String bass.  Bass fiddle.  Double bass.  Bull bass.  Bass viol.

She is called by many names and her function in any musical ensemble is to, “basically”, lay down the groove: provide the bottom (base) of the harmony and rhythm.

But, her melodic range is broad, and she can sing you to tears as well as make you feel that thump in your rump.”
